Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of apipreflight.com (the "Service"), operated by Phillip Wilson, a sole trader in Australia ("we", "us"). By using the Service you agree to them.
Not ready to publish. The contact address on this page is still the placeholder TODO-support@apipreflight.com. Set CONTACT_EMAIL in lib/legal.ts to a working mailbox before accepting payments.
1. What the Service is
API Preflight is a developer tool for creating mock HTTP APIs. You define endpoints and the responses you want them to return — status codes, headers, bodies and artificial delays — and we serve those responses at a URL on apipreflight.io so you can build and test an application before the real backend exists.
The Service returns the data you configure. It is a testing and development aid, not a production backend, a hosting platform for real user data, or a proxy for anonymising traffic.
2. Accounts
Creating a basic mock does not require an account; those mocks are temporary and are deleted automatically after the period stated on the site. An account lets you keep mocks permanently and organise them. You must provide an accurate email address, keep your login secure, and are responsible for activity under your account. You must be at least 16 years old to create an account.
You can delete your account at any time by contacting us at TODO-support@apipreflight.com.
3. Plans and billing
The free tiers cost nothing and require no payment details. Paid plans are recurring subscriptions billed at the price shown on our pricing page at the time you subscribe.
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period until cancelled.
- Payments are processed by Stripe. We never receive or store your full card details.
- You may cancel at any time from the customer portal. Cancellation stops future renewals; your paid access continues until the end of the period you have paid for.
- If we change the price, we will give you notice before it applies to your renewal. If you do not accept the new price, you may cancel.
- If a payment fails, we may suspend paid features until payment succeeds.
- Team plans are billed per seat. Adding seats mid-period is charged pro rata; removing seats takes effect at the next renewal.
Refunds are covered by our Refund & Cancellation Policy.
4. Your content
The endpoint definitions, response bodies and any other data you enter remain yours. We store them only to provide the Service to you. We do not claim ownership of them and do not sell them.
Mock responses are served publicly. Anyone who knows or guesses a mock URL can request it — that is the point of the product, since your application and your colleagues need to reach it without credentials. Mock URLs contain a random identifier and are not listed anywhere by us, but they are not a security boundary. Do not put real personal data, credentials, API keys or anything confidential into a mock response.
5. Our content
The software, design and documentation of the Service are owned by us or our licensors. While your account is in good standing we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the Service, including for your own commercial development work and for clients.
You may not resell or sublicense the Service as a competing product, or circumvent access controls or usage limits.
6. Acceptable use
Because the Service serves arbitrary HTTP responses at a URL, it could be misused. You agree not to use it to:
- host phishing pages, malware, or content impersonating another person, business or service;
- operate a command-and-control channel, exfiltrate data, or disguise the origin of traffic;
- serve content that is illegal, infringing, or that you do not have the right to distribute;
- run production traffic, load-testing, cryptomining, or any workload designed to generate disproportionate request volume;
- attempt to disrupt, overload or gain unauthorised access to our systems or anyone else's data.
We apply rate limits and size limits, and may reduce them to protect the Service. We may disable a mock immediately, without notice, if we believe it is being used as described above or is causing harm.
7. Availability
We aim to keep the Service available but do not guarantee uninterrupted access, and we do not offer a service-level agreement. The Service is intended for development and testing; do not make anything you cannot afford to have fail depend on it. We may change, suspend or discontinue features. If we discontinue a paid plan entirely, we will refund the unused portion of any prepaid period.
8. Disclaimers and liability
The Service is provided as a development tool. You are responsible for what you configure it to return and for how your own applications behave in response.
Australian Consumer Law. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law or other law that cannot lawfully be excluded. Where our liability can be limited, it is limited — at our option — to resupplying the Service or paying the cost of having it resupplied. Subject to that, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
9. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these terms. You may stop using the Service at any time. Terms that by their nature should survive termination — ownership, disclaimers, liability limits — will do so.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change materially reduces your rights, we will give notice before it takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after that means you accept the updated terms.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia, and you and we submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of its courts.
